Day of Naughty Treats

Hey All

Well it has been a weekend of delightful treats so far. Yesterday I went with Tasha to Borough Market ( http://www.boroughmarket.org.uk/). Now Laura works not far from there and she kept on at me to come visit her and she would take me out for lunch at Borough Market which I did early this summer, we shared amazing steak sandwiches and Paella. Ever since then I have promised myself a return trip. Its a food market but boy that description does not even cover it.

There is every possible kind of food for sale, German, French, Spanish, Polish, Mexican, Chinese stalls full of produce and then amazing butchers, fish stalls, veg markets, cheese and bread stalls. Tasha was particularly fond of the huge chocolate brownies on offer. We bought gorgeous Walnut bread, olives, Manchego cheese and a local cheddar, Polish Kabanos sausages, cranberry museli, mint tea, peppercorns and dried chipolta chillies and a few other yummy goods. We then wandered down the southbank people watching and headed for Gabrielles Wharf.

I love Gabrielles Wharf its such a strange place full of different shops that regularly change hands, you're never sure whats going to be there at anyone time. We only went for a look in the windows but Tasha ended up buying a lovely purple tweed belted coat - Very Nice!!

We stopped back at the flat to put the food away and I got dressed in my best English teacher threads (brown tweed, corduroy and fur) for a very special afternoon treat. As if Borough Market wasn't enough I headed off to spend half an hour in Hatchards the fabulous book shop next to Forntum and Mason where I met mum for our afternoon Tea session at
THE RITZ!!!

Yep thats right mum's Tangent group had booked in March for a trip for afternoon tea at the Ritz, now I had afternoon tea at Fortnum & Masons for my birthday in April but I have to say this was better. More expensive sure but enough to food to kill and great earl grey tea, the service was amazing and the surroundings definitely something I wish to grow accustomed too. Next I want to try the Wolsely which is on the same street. All in all a very nice way to spend the day.

Today I have the pain of work but this evening I am off to see Michelle in her chamber choir performing Monteverdi Vespers. I am meeting Hugh and an over-70's mathematician for dinner first - come on tell me does my life not occassionally look like an avant gard French farce - I let you know what its like.
